Songbook #6



I couldn't decide between the original Neko Case version of this song or the Marianne Faithfull cover, so you get both. The song is beautiful, sad, precise.

In 2009, I was scheduled to take the LSATs in Eugene. After signing up, I noticed that Neko Case had a concert in Eugene the night before the test. I decided to go, with my cousin Sarah, on the theory that the music might loosen up my brain.

Marianne Faithfull was making music before most of us were born. She dated famous people and was something of a celebrity in the 70s. A couple years ago, she made a new album of covers, including songs by the Decemberists, Antony and the Johnsons, and Neko Case. Her version adds something:
