A photograph from 2004 and a song that is still in my heart.

Thanks to JRC for sending this. I'm onstage, dancing alongside Sonia Morales. I am 23, happy. She's wearing this beautiful dress.

Here's what I remember about that night. I was in Chiquian for its fiestas. Earlier in the day I had seen a woman's face punctured by a cohete, a five-foot shaft of bamboo launched with gun powder, fireworks. That night, I went to Sonia's concert and danced with friends. Finally, it must have been Danny Mendoza, the animador, who called me up on stage. I know the words to the songs and how to zapatear a little bit so I do this with the most famous and most beautiful (but not most talented- that's dina) huayno singer in the world.

After the concert, I invite myself aboard Sonia Morales' tour bus, tell her I love her and give her a kiss on the cheek. Here's a song:
