Ms. Margot teaches fourth grade in Spanish and English at Lincoln Elementary, Woodburn, Oregon.
Her students made a real-live wax museum. Each pupil stands frozen, dressed as an important personage from Iberian-American history. Examples of people portrayed include Gabriela Mistral, Barack Obama, Benito Juarez, Harriet Tubman, David Beckham, Helen Keller, Kaka, Zora Neale Hurston, Pablo Picasso, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
You press one of two red buttons, for Spanish or English, and the wax figure (fourth grader) comes to life and gives an autobiography. This is probably the coolest thing ever to happen at an elementary school. All of the students were brilliant. Here are some highlights:
Convincing costume: Frida Kahlo (appropriately detached cameo by Diego Rivera):
Eloquent speech: Cesar Chavez
Promising political future: Hillary Clinton (includes appearance by Bill C):
Accurate portrayal: Albert Einstein

It's Argentina's Bicentennial.
Einstein didn't seem like much of an Einstein to me, index cards, I don't need no stinkin' index cards! He should have played the role of Tony Soprano.
ResponderEliminarIn other news, while this is a very cool idea, are all of these kids latino? Do they speak perfect English? Would have been awesome to see them perform in both languages.
Nevertheless, thank you Dani, for opening my world and letting me see that not all 12 year olds are video game playing, bubble gum chewing, juvenile delinquents.
I digress.
