Answer the gringo

Blogging. This is a blog that I am supposed to be blogging and you come here to read blogs.

And I'm grateful to you for that.

- I'm in New York. Brooklyn. I'm tired and have to go to the bathroom. Today I had a pumpernickel bagel with lox spread. When Greg called the bagel delivery to order, this happened:

Bagel lady: Can I have your name please?
Greg: Greg.
Bagel lady: Dick?
Greg: Greg.

- I'm watching the Blazers beat the Mavs. I miss Portland. A lot.

- We went to the Statue of Liberty. She has a funny haircut and big feet. I'm in love with her.

- This week we watched Antichrist and Teeth.

- The world is my oyster. Maybe.

tonite i walked from 70th st upper east side back to brookyln, pretending i didn't have money for the subway. as i got down past the village, i looked for the old diners on the lower east side, trying to find the first place i ever ate in manhattan.

we counted our alaska dollars, took the green train to the f and got off at houston.

tonight i walked down first avenue, up second avenue, down essex. i couldn't find the borscht and the lattkes. i walked further east, to these other avenues. i'm not sure if they were real or not. i thought i might be in buenos aires, in that neighborhood past congreso.

new york grew up and and the diner closed and yonah schimmel is something you might read about on yelp.

how did you know to take us there? and why can't i stop going back, alone? i'm not looking for lox. i'm looking for a time machine. if i could just find that place in chinatown with the white balls of goo- i could eat one and live again, live ten years ago, keep going back.

- That's what's happening with this trip. I'm not going to Africa. I'm trying to figure out where to live for the next 3+30 years and I'm looking backward. The domain name will stay the same.
